The Tube challenge
(Level: B2 / Upper-Intermediate / ***)
You are going to watch a BBC programme featuring Geoff Marshall who desperately wants to break the world record for the so-called Tube Challenge, consisting in visiting all the London underground stations in the fastest time possible.
This year was Geoff's 24th attempt, but only once did he succeed in breaking the record. It was on 5th May 2004 - he went through all the London Tube stations in 18 hours, 35 minutes and 43 seconds.
The current Guinness World Record Tube Challenge holders are Steve Wilson and Andy James, who completed the
task in 16 hours, 29 minutes and 13 seconds on 27th May 2011.
Let's now see if Geoff will succeed in beating the record which is considered by Tube Challenge specialists to be virtually unbeatable and of course the rules are very strict to embark on this 250-mile adventure!

Watch the programme and answer the following questions:
- What are some of the rules Geoff mentions if he wants to be taken into account by the Guinness World Records?
- What else does he do so as to dispose of more evidence of his visiting the stations?
- What does he answer to people who ask him why he spends his time doing the Tube Challenge?
- Why do you think he takes a couple of Imodium tablets?
- Did he break the 2011 record? Explain!

When you are finished, check your answers:
1.
3.
- Il aime ça; c'est un "accro" du métro;
- il est bon pour faire ça, alors autant continuer;
